Job Overview
The Field Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing all safety programs across JDC Power Systems’ regional field service operations. This role provides companywide oversight for safety compliance, safety training, certification management, incident prevention, and continuous improvement of safety processes. The Field Safety Manager partners closely with Regional Managers, Field Service Technicians, Engineering, HR, and our third-party safety vendor to ensure safe work practices in all field environments involving critical power systems, electrical equipment, and construction-related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Leadership and Compliance
- Oversee all JDC safety programs, policies, and regulatory compliance requirements across all regions.
- Ensure personnel adhere to OSHA, NFPA70E, LOTO, PPE, and company-specific safety standards.
- Conduct regular site safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective action plans.
- Manage root-cause analyses and incident investigations.
- Maintain documentation related to safety reports, audits, certifications, and compliance activities.
- Monitoring changes in OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations and updating company policies accordingly.
- Training, Certification Tracking & Development Track all Field Service Technician safety certifications and expiration dates.
- Maintain a master safety training and certification matrix. -
- Coordinate virtual and in-person safety trainings.
- Partner with the third-party safety company to align training materials.
- Support safety onboarding for new technicians.
Operational Safety Oversight
- Perform risk assessments for new projects while explicitly stating involvement in pre-job hazard analysis for new installations or commissioning activities
- Conduct onsite safety assessments at customer facilities and job sites. - Review operational practices such as commissioning safety and energization monitoring.
- Ensure consistent implementation of LOTO procedures.
- Review, recommend, and enhance current safety practices and tools.
- Safety Committee & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead the internal JDC Safety Committee.
- Serve as primary liaison between JDC operations and the safety vendor.
- Collaborate with Regional Managers to address field safety concerns.
- Provide coaching and guidance to safety points of contact.
- Reporting & Performance Metrics
- Maintain and report monthly safety performance data.
- Track KPIs related to training, audits, incidents, and observations.
- Recommend program enhancements based on trends and field feedback.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Occupational Safety &Health, Construction Management, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in safety management within electrical, construction, or critical power environments.
- Experience conducting safety audits, LOTO procedures, and electrical hazard assessments.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, NFPA70E, electrical safety practices, and risk management.
- Skilled in incident investigation and hazard identification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead meetings, facilitate training, and coach teams.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Certifications OSHA 30 or greater (OSHA 500/510 preferred) NFPA70E CPR/First Aid/AED LOTO training
Other Requirements
- Travel required across JDC regions.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and clean record.
Location: One of JDC’s Offices (San Antonio, TX / Hackettstown, NJ / Atlanta, GA)
Travel Requirements:
Travel is required on a weekly/monthly basis to both customer sites and internal field service locations across the nation. The Field Safety Manager will follow a rotating schedule to meet with staff, support ongoing projects, and assess future operational needs at each location.
