Job Overview
JDC Power Systems, LLC is seeking a Field Service Technician FSR2 to join our team and support our field operations. In this role, you will perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and industrial controls at client sites. As a FSR2 technician, you will take on more complex tasks and handle a wider range of responsibilities with increased independence. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with power systems, electrical equipment, and industrial controls, as well as a commitment to delivering high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Field Service Support:
Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, PLC controls, and other electrical equipment.
Diagnose and resolve issues on-site with minimal supervision, ensuring minimal downtime and operational efficiency.
Perform inspections and testing to ensure systems are working correctly and meet industry standards.
Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers to handle complex service calls and escalate when necessary.
Customer Interaction & Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers during service visits, addressing technical issues, providing solutions, and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
Document and provide clear and accurate feedback on service activities, including test reports, troubleshooting results, and system performance.
Operational Efficiency:
Perform service work independently, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely completion of all service requests.
Help organize and schedule service calls to ensure efficient service delivery and minimize downtime for clients.
Work with internal teams to coordinate resources, parts, and tools required for service activities.
Maintain accurate records of service work, inventory, time tracking, and equipment usage.
Use remote diagnostic tools and support junior and senior technicians in troubleshooting and resolving issues remotely.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure all work complies with company safety protocols, OSHA guidelines, and industry regulations.
Conduct site-specific safety assessments and audits, identifying potential hazards and mitigating risks.
Complete safety briefings and provide guidance to junior technicians on maintaining a safe work environment.
Ongoing Improvement & Innovation:
Stay up to date with new technology, trends, and industry best practices to continuously improve service quality.
Identify opportunities for process improvements, suggesting enhancements to service delivery and customer experience.
Contribute to the development and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices for field service activities.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
Certifications such as NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or other technical certifications are a plus.
Experience:
3-5 years of hands-on experience as a field service technician, with a focus on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls.
Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing complex electrical systems and components.
Previous experience with field service management tools or software is a plus.
Hands-on experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and protective relay systems.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently resolve complex technical issues.
Familiarity with standard electrical tools, test equipment (e.g., multimeters, relay test sets), and diagnostic software.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to customers and team members.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple service calls simultaneously.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Other Requirements:
Willingness and ability to travel frequently, with overnight stays to visit customer sites and JDC locations across the country.
A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Commitment to safety and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
